I think there's a way out of this mess; but only if Quinn marries my college roommate Rhonda. (Neither Dad nor Angelique would try enforce the arranged marriage contract, which would then be effectively broken.)
Ironically enough, it was me that introduced Rhonda to Ninth Life, where she met Quinn. Aby Eyeshine was showing Kell (and later Dad) around that online community, and I became interested. Since I didn't know the feline language I asked Rhonda to help me once I returned to school. She began visiting Ninth Life on her own, and met Quinn.
Why Quinn decided to learn feline and explore Ninth Life as a cat is something he himself probably doesn't fully know. Perhaps living under the prospect of an arranged future makes one receptive to roleplay. If your life has been completely mapped out with no chance of escape you want to try out alternatives, even virtual ones.
Rhonda's difficulties with her longtime boyfriend Edgar have been mentioned before in this space, and I won't recap them here. Suffice to say, though, she's been looking for an alternative as well.
Now that Rhonda and Quinn have met face-to-face it seems that the rapport they developed online has carried over to real world. At this moment they're lost in conversation, completely ignoring me as I write this.
