My first week on Professor Antlerhead's stem-cell research team has generally gone well; being introduced to the other R.A.s and getting up to speed on the program. Everyone seems friendly and welcoming.
I've noticed that they also appear somewhat beleaguered, which is understandable. Although the state has funded stem-cell research, the current Administration prohibits any federal money being used. So, all of the equipment, tools...even the office supplies have to be held completely separate from the rest of the lab. Just on a daily basis, the hassles impede our progress into finding cures for a whole range of diseases.
Fenton, ever suspicious, thinks this is the Professor's way of isolating me. I doubt that; this field is particularly sensitive territory and could make headlines at any time.
Now I have to return to the lab, making sure not to walk on the federally-funded carpeting and sticking to the state-supplied linoleum.
