My press conference with Professor Antlerhead went off well. He publicly gave me full credit for the contribution I made to the team's research, and fortunately none of the reporters asked when I'd made it. (Answer: the night before.) Back home, the folks recorded the event on DVD for the family scrapbook.
In the days since, I've noticed subtle changes around the lab. The other research assistants are more deferential toward me, and every now and then I catch one staring in my direction. Nothing negative...I just seem to be under the microscope.
Ha.
My relationship with the professor has definitely changed. (Before he had a hard time pronouncing my name. Just for the record, it's "LIN-DUZ-farn.") Now he's put me on the team's most important project: stem cells.
Yeah, I think I know something about adaptability.
