My quills have starting lengthening after last week's propeller incident, and should be fully back to normal by the time I come home from college in May. One thing I've noticed is that the points where they were sheared off are even sharper than they usually are. I've told Fenton that if he does anything dangerous again I'll give him a painful poke! (Not that I really would!)
He still feels awful about getting too close to that plane, and I wonder if part of his shame isn't only endangering us but also it being a reflection on his flying skills. When guys are as proud of something as Fenton is about his airborne maneuvering, it's a blow when a serious mishap occurs. Of course, if the consequences aren't severe (as in this case) it can have a positive outcome. We'll see if he remain cautious.
In other news, Spring is here with its regular explosion in the insect population. We're looking forward to having more variety in our diet; by the end of winter the bugs available under rocks get pretty scarce.
