So far there’s been no immediate fallout from Kell’s dismissal of R.L.’s buyout offer. The two have been sniping at each other using the weapon of Linked In’s “recommendation” feature, but nothing’s occurred that would cause real damage.
That, of course, is only a temporary lull in the battle. If R.L. knows that the rabbits are not only funding Kell, but that Dewclaw’s Fine Meats is in fact a creation of the rabbits, the way forward has both opportunity and danger for him. If he simply exposes the arrangement Kell can retaliate with two revelations: that R.L. is Domesticated like her, and that his wife Angelique is a rabbit kicked out of the warren who employed cosmetic surgery to appear as a rat.
(BTW, the Domestication issue has led some wonder if R.L. is actually Kell’s father. I’ve done the DNA analysis and, no. They’re not related. Domestication is really more common than people think.)
Alternatively, R.L. can just allow Kell’s company to gain a small niche in the market. That’s the least likely scenario. R.L. lives and dies by the company’s current market share. He doesn’t allow any potential competitor to gain a foothold.
So, he’s going to try to crush Kell’s company, but not in a way that she feels she has nothing to lose and tells all.

Here we see the clever tactics of the male romantic rabbit. Luring the expectant female into his den. It appears however the offspring will have to be tossed out of the nest before there are further developments.

I think no matter what R.L. does he is going to have an up hill fight to stop Kell from getting a strong foot hold in the market. Kell may have only started with about 250 of H.T.'s former employees. But I would not be surprised if more joined her from other places. Say former workers for the bank that closed down. If they merged 2 or 3 offices into one they would have let go more then half of them.

More accurately, R.L. and Kell weren't related until Angelique's marriage. At that point, it became the case that R.L. and Kell both had a certain hedgehog stepdaughter in common. Which, I suppose, would make them related in an unusual way.

Hm, I think that R.L.'s best bet is to try to marginalize Dewclaw's Fine Meats. (In other words, herd them into a market segment that HerdThinners isn't really interested in, like small game and insects.)

I didn't think R.L. was old enough to be Kell's father anyway. Of course, it's hard for us to judge. You may not know it, Lindesfarne, but the comic we read has never shown all of R.L.'s head -- usually just the jaws, except when he wears a mask and we can see his eyes and ears. Yeah, that doesn't leave much unseen, but we still get the impression that the gestalt is too hideous to present. You've seen him; do you agree?

Wendell did what? Guess he's going to take after Kevin, even if he doesn't have the size for it. If he took down a lynx though, he must have something going for him.

Snort Your Cousin Wendell sure is something, Lindesfarne. At least this way he stands a chance when Mei-Li gets wind of Lin's crush on a rabbit!

I think Lin sees that Wendell is not like other rabbits. He is not scared like other rabbits. She would be just right for him when he takes over the role of the Easter Bunny. She should be able to keep him safe.

I think Lin have made up her mind that she wants Wendell as her life mate. I have a feeling the reason is she sees how good a hunter Coney is after having a Rabbit as a father & a Wolf for a mother.
