I'm thinking of opening a MyTree account. (Heck, everyone else is!) The main thing I'm considering is how it would affect this blog.

The Virtual Quill started as a normal blog available to everybody, but as I began musing more and more on private things like my human origins and scientific research, I shut it down so that only I would see it. It's become more of a private journal just for me.

At least, I hope it is!

I recently discovered that our HareLink network's wireless signal was routed through a station that sends signals near the portal to the human world. Despite having gone through that portal more times than anybody, I'm still unsure how it works. If physical objects can pass through, can data?

And if so, how are my writings being received? As mad ravings? As fiction?

If I do open a MyTree account that won't be on it. People would think I'm nuts.

Just guessing, but I imagine data would pass through even more easily than objects. It would just need the transfer of a small amount of energy, as with a radio signal crossing through normal space. There could easily be quite a torrent of data going between the worlds. And if both worlds have the same Internet routing protocols and the same top domain names, then they'd effectively be sharing the same Internet. For all you know, one of those strange bald primates could be posting on your blog right now...

If "humans" are real... and THIS is a private blog... and IF there IS a loophole in the system that allows data to pass into this supposed "human universe..." how am I commenting on THIS blog!?!? How am I even able to SEE this blog if this is private!?!?!? That doesn't make any sense... whatever... see ya next week, Lindesfarne!

It could be worse. They could be recieved as, comedy.

Seriously, I don't doubt that data coud get through, and probably easier than material objects. HAM radio in particular should easily pass through and then be detected in your world, since it bounces around the globe so freely.

But if a signal from your internet is leaking through to ours, then why isn't it working the other way around? It doesn't seem to be, since you never see these comments. Maybe something the birds did to the portal is causing data transfer to be one way, or only parts of the two internets are being shared? When I look up Herd Thinners, I get a webpage for a comic, not a webpage for a large predatory enterprise, so it's clearly not a complete sharing of information.

Maybe if I could find a way to route my comment through server near the portal it might work? Or maybe the comments are getting through, but because you have your blog set to private on your side, they don't show up on your side because they're being rejected by your server? If you ever made it public again, who knows what you might see?

hmmm, well one has to think of the concepts of the known worlds. I.E. the world we live in and the "human" world. these two seem like counterpart realities in one huge universe which by some unknown events have become entangled in some area I.E. the Bermuda triangle. But I'm not a scientist, so my concepts of sending data to another world is beyond my comprehension. but someone like you or Danielle could figure it out.

I myself have a blog (boring, predator-type stuff. You won't be interested, Lindy, and my fellow predators would be bored because I'm the lazy type)

Personally I've always been of the view that journals, blogs, etc. are supposed to be private. I kept a handwritten journal for YEARS (until the cubs were born and I didn't have the time) which of course was private and not publicly accessible (Mrs. Lion was of course allowed to see it, but she chose not to). That kind of conditioning kept me for YEARS from even getting a blog (despite being a techno-geek), until a friend finally pressured me into getting one. I barely use it, and what's in there is not anything like what you've ever written.

However, I feel that "to each his own" in terms of blog use. If you want to write your thoughts, hopes, dreams, etc. like I did in my hand-written journal and post them on your blog, well, that just makes you normal, as most blogs I've seen do that. You also seem to have a good audience of readers both in our world and "beyond", and, frankly, I"m sure we'd be dissappointed if we can't see behind the scnees of our favourite hedgehog. If you want to make your writings less personal and more "general interest" (like mine is), fine. But I don't think we'd want you to leave altogether.

Sometimes you sound like the brightest kid around, and then you sound like you have a few screws loose. I nearly cracked up at your brother's comic a few years ago but I can't imagine humans to exist. Letting yourself believe that you're this hairless ape from his imagination is purely insane. You should get checked into a nice hospital to see what's wrong with your head.

By the way, check your privacy settings again, and keep your paws on the ground like a good hedgehog.

Well, Humans exsisting is not too far fetched, since there was that large spread of people losing their instincts, which can only happen by sudden interference with humans, thus humans must exist. If i know anything from reading comic books, the humans are probably where you were looking with your telescope, that one part of the vastness of space that you were drawn to, must be where the humans are.

So, I have eventually decided to comment in this blog.
I'm not at all a researcher - that's the job for my egghead brother Dudley - but I have devised another theory. It appears that, under certain conditions, optical and audio signals may be transmitted through The Portal (may I call it like that?) much like a mirage is formed on the desert. Thanks to the peculiar qualities of our atmosphere... oh crud... I mean... human world atmosphere thoise signals are reformed to manifest as so called 'strips', which, thanks to the Universal Law of The Ridiculous ("All ridiculous things happen more often than you think") assumes the form of real comic strips.
My gosh, what I am writing? Sorry you had to read that. Looks like my poor, twisted mind is playing tricks on me again. Sit! Bad mind!

Hi Lindesfarne!
Your suspicions are definitely correct. Data from your world is entering the human world. And your world must use different security because your blog is totally visible over here in hairless-primate-planet. But you don't have to worry about causing instinct loss over here because we've lost them all already. The other day I saw a neighbor drive down to the end of the block on the sidewalk to buy a six-pack of beer. And as far as I can tell from what I've seen on your blog so far, people from your world are unable to access your blog.

I have been to your world, and to my delight i took the form of a penguin (viva linux!). You remember Rudy's human comic right? It's more accurate than you would think. The current president of the nation I live in is probably the least evolved of any of the humans here... I'm betting going through the portal to your world would make him human (he looks like a chimpanzee now). Anyway, my world mirrors yours quite nicely. If you can get into human-world sites somehow, I suggest you google "Enron". See if that reminds you of any corporations in your world

. And what's more, regarding Rudy's online comic... There's an online comic here in the human world that reflects your world. It's quite accurate to what I saw on my visit to your world. It actually stars your family (It's titled "Kevin & Kell")! Sadly, there isn't quite enough of you and Fenton in it. For some reason you two remind me of my girlfriend and I. Very strange, because she doesn't have quills, isn't into genetic science, and I have no echolocation abilities, nor can I stand being upside-down for any length of time. And neither of us like bugs

I'll be sticking around on your blog (as long as you don't mind) telling you more about the human world and how our worlds mirror each other. And if I get the chance, I'll drop by your world again, and maybe get to meet you and your family. Heck, I might even bring my girlfriend (what would she become, I wonder. Definitely a loyal, loving, caring, smart species. I'm thinking some type of canine. She has used dogs and wolves as avatars on her MySpace (like MyTree) page.)
