Yes, I look down at my keyboard and see something new; a certain adornment on my left hand, courtesy of Fenton.
A plan that started out as an attempt to decrease risk-taking has ended up with me taking the biggest risk of all: a lifetime commitment. Fenton and I have already been though a great deal of challenges so I know we have a solid relationship that will stand the test of time. (That was never a factor in my previous reluctance to get married.) I suppose I was more concerned with what marriage would do to our professional lives, and that's why I'm still insisting that we hold off the ceremony until after we graduate.
Fenton is giddy with excitement; it's obviously his dream come true. After we tell our folks I'll send a text message to Tammy, my only married friend...I'll need advice! I'll text Rhonda as well, although this won't affect our rooming together next year.
The subject of rooming brings the realization that someday Fenton and I will be residing together inside Tree, as husband and wife...and that we'll need other extra rooms as well.
Looking at this ring, sparkling in the moonlight, it makes me begin taking the long-range view of things.
