Just as Rhonda suspected, it didn't take long to run into her old boyfriend Edgar. He even tracked us down at the insectivore fast food place Bug World (where I was eating breakfast and Rhonda was just having a Coke).
Surprisingly, he actually seemed to want to change his spots. (Yes, wrong feline, I know.) He still lives at home with his parents, and they have a traditional lion family. His father lays around all day watching ESPN, and his mother has a career in advertising and brings down a sizable paycheck to provide for her males. Rhonda says the arrangement makes her want to hurl zebra chunks.
After Rhonda left I told Edgar that Rudy might be able to help him win Rhonda back by learning to hunt. However, there's such peer-pressure against a male lion taking down his own food that it would have to be done outside of school.
I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't think Rhonda really did want him back, but she doesn't want to compromise her principles. She's very strong in that regard. Okay, she's strong in every regard.
