Gran dropped the bombshell that when Dad was a baby she'd arranged for him to marry the rabbit he's currently facing in the school board election. This brings up several points, the first being the only instance of arranged marriage Gran ever attempted. I guess after that no one wanted to have anything to do with the Kindle family. Gran must've been bitter for many years, even to the point of going off into the Wild after her divorce. I now feel a little more sympathy for her.
So why wasn't it big news at the time? "Baby Rabbit Kills Rattler!" My guess is that both families had reasons for keeping it quiet. The Caudals always put a high premium on decorum and social niceties, and Grandpa was probably hiding from the authorities.
