As Aby researches alternative fuels, I haven’t been neglecting my own research into cross-dimensional communication. Using Hare-Link equipment (with Dad’s permission!) I can now direct a signal directly into the portal that connects to the world populated by humans...the world I came from. (Of course, I wonder if my blogs have been getting into that world all along...In that case this is just overkill. But...oh, well.)
The device is more than a transmitter, though. It’s a receiver. That part will take me a few more weeks to activate. I have no idea what frequency to look for! Now I wish that during the short trip that Fenton and I made into that world I had done more investigating communications technology. However, we needed to get back home quickly, as Fenton really never got the hang of walking on human feet.
The power required for reception would be considerable. I wouldn't be able to connect for more an a few minutes a week. Even that, however, would be amazing.
Assuming I am able to contact the human world, I’ll have to be more circumspect with what I write here. OTOH, a dialog would open up a whole new range of subject matter. I have a lot of questions!
Finally, we just saw a movie depicting a future in which humans completely trash their planet and take off into space, leaving some technology behind. I felt this weird sense of deja vu.

While your cross-dimensional research is intriguing, I feel I must express a bit of concern about the consequences.

For example, I noticed you used the abbreviation "OTOH" in this post; while this is perfectly appropriate for us equines and other ungulates, I should think a hedgehog like yourself would be more inclined to write *"OTOP"*.

Though I know you have done extensive online role-playing as other species, such typos might raise the suspicion that your "Human" side is becoming more powerful. Of course, we remember what happened the last time there was such cosmic leakage.

So, be careful, Ms. Lindesfarne: while I appreciate technological progress as much as anyone, I don't think any of us want to change the world suddenly into a strange and unfamiliar place-

Lindesfarne, once you get receiving working, you should meet a few of your fans in a chat room! Like I've said before, we have a... medium of sorts on our side of the portal. He draws your lives as a comic strip. Believe it or not, you've got tons of fans all over the human Earth! Feel free to drop into #kk on irc.nightstar.net anytime! By the way, maybe it would be cheaper to toss a RF transceiver through the portal, tethered by a data cable.

Remember, the nearest portal is out to sea, so that wouldn't be very practical.

Lindesfarne, where by chance is this portal between our worlds? I'd like to visit your realm, get in touch with my "animal nature", if only for a short time.

Hope you liked WALL-E. I myself am waiting for The Dark Knight to comes out. Which raises another question. Since your world is populated solely by animals, is Batman an actual bat, or some other creature who wears a bat outfit?

They've redone the series often enough that we've seen more than one interpretation of the Dark Knight -- like when he wasn't so "dark" in the TV series, he was another creature in a bat outfit (ironically, given Kevin, I believe he was a large bunny as Bruce Wayne -- the playboy image, don't you know). But a lot of purists prefer the way some of the better movies from the series portrayed him: as a bat who hides his nature as another creature when he's in his Bruce Wayne role.

A large bunny in the series that wasn't dark... ohmygod, Adam West is a rabbit in your world?! That is incredible. Thank you for giving me that amusing mental image, Terri. Now whenever I see a rabbit in my yard I'll have to say "What's this?!"

I imagine it could be tough for one species to masquerade as another. But it must have been easier when they made the animated series. I hope that in your world the creators made the same wise choice in casting Mark Hamill to voice the Joker. (And let me guess, Joker is a hyena. Or is that too blunt?)

I was brave enough to go to the emerging Human Convention. Couldn't try out a suit fast enough. They did have to adjust for my needs, though. It was so off looking when they had front set eyes like a predator and it ruined my ability to see, very badly. My ears itched the whole time from being stuffed inside that little head. Kept a buff body guard around at all times. After all, a deer without his senses is as good as a menu selection at the wolf diner's club. But, I survived the ordeal and found it pretty enjoyable...once the environment felt secured enough. But, those tail-less creatures. Oh, what a fuss it made for others, whom either had to find a place to tuck to...or just push it out a hole and ruin the effect. Then, I'm one to talk. Word has it that Humans never had the defense of antlers. And, I wasn't about to cut mine for shear wardrobe.

I wonder if they are friendly to my species?

How were you able to see a Human movie? It couldn't have come from our world since you can't receive signals yet. It wouldn't have been made by any of the production houses in your world as that would've been too radical a theme, I'm sure.

Considering the amount of stuff I saw in video form being sold at that Human Con, the notion is out there. Many inventive minds have already been hard at work on creating what the Human world must be like. Also remember that both computer and video equipment are very affordable, these days. The idea is alive and loose from it's bottle. I have a theory that a few Humans have already invaded our world and are secretly feeding notions in to our everyday lives. Word in the underground is that they are camped out deep in The Wild. A name has been given to their secret territory. Area Fifty-One. If only we had a lifeline to the residence for further verification. Alas, curse their fear of technology and modern ways.
