CURIOSITY KILLED THE HEDGEHOG

Well, I hope not! However, curiosity is getting the better of me as I investigate this inter-dimensional portal transmission theory. What could happen is that a receiver could exist on the other side of a portal, hooked up to a server to give everyone in that world access to what would be completely firewalled on the opposite side.
How to test it? I know where one portal is located, and working for an ISP means I have all of the communications hardware at my disposal. After classes end in two weeks I’ll have time to do some serious testing.
Why am I doing this? The aforementioned curiosity is one thing, but the main thing is the safety issue. Simply monitoring transmissions is a passive way of gaining information about another place or time, without the risk of bodily crossing over. I assume that if inhabitants of another dimension have been monitoring my world, they’re likely to be “mostly harmless” since they haven’t launched anything aggressive against us.
Of course, for all I know, they could simply regard it as a work of fiction.

Actually, my understanding is that whatever is on the other side of this "portal" is extremly dangerous! They even seem to practice rampant cannibalism, if their saying "It's a dog-eat-dog World" is correct...

The surest, fastest way to discourage persons from the 'other side' of this hypothetical portal from reading your blog would be to start posting a lot of spam. "Longer, straighter, pointier quills in just seven days or NO MONEY BACK!"

Second would be to start offering Amway products.

I dunno, John; for all we know, the beings on the other side of the portal are so strange they might actually like spam and Amway products! Or worse, hate it so much that they decide to track it to the source to attack Domain to get rid of it. Of course, if they've really figured out how to get rid of spam, maybe we could work out a peaceful technology exchange so they could help us with it here!

Some portals once opened cannot be closed, and some of those open portals can have disasterous consequences. Why are you here? You have much to explore in the world that you find yourself, and many clues about what lies through the portal. Thoroughly explore the reason that it is closed. Then discuss your thoughts with others, and take time to think and pray before acting. You will leave soon enough.

A other-worldly portal? Interesting. Just be careful, or you might wind up sliding from world to world, trying to find your way home. Or being tested by a deranged computer with promises of cake. =^_^=

Or worse, you could end up stuck between portals and end up leaping from life to life throughout space and time, setting right what once went wrong, and each time hoping the next leap will be the leap home...

Ah, yes. The Quantum Leap effect. Best avoid that, indeed! Can you imagine how difficult it would be for a hedgehog to pull off "being", say, a tigress in 1975?
